Annoyed fetish priests in the Ashanti Region have warned filmmakers who are in the tendency of condemning them in their movies to stop or face their wrath.
The priests gave the warning following the frequent faking and mockery of fetish priest in Ghanaian movies.
According to Nana Baffour Asabre Kogyawasu III who spoke on their behalf, some producers in the country are fond of portraying aspersions and weary images on their religion tagging it as disgusting and devilish.
“Anytime you watch Ghanaian movies, you will see that they are being bias and unprofessional in the sense that they always make pastors defeat the priests which is highly unfair”
“In our normal life, how many pastors have succeeded in defeating priests when they clash on a platform?’’ he asked.
The spiritual leader of the Ashanti Kingdom, Nana Baffour Asabre Kogyawasu III giving the warning in an interview with Ashh fm in Kumasi said the priests will no more condone such disgrace from movie producers.
He said the producers have made it look like the priests are not strong enough for people to rely on.
‘’Even the actors they use in the role as fetish priest are sometimes not serious. You could see a priest eating and joking in front of visitors, this can never happen’’ he stressed.
The Sumankwahene of Otumfour further called on Ghanaian filmmakers who are victims of this act to desist from tarnishing the image of the traditional religion or face their wrath.
