James Opoku known on radio as DJ Champagne has resigned from Global Media Alliance-owned YFM 107.9, Zionfelix.com can confirm. The toast of the capital left the station after signing a contract with South Africa’s Planet Radio TV – a radio and TV station. The 2012 RTP award-winner will be the host of ‘Planet Mix’ on the station which airs live on DSTV channel 335.
After playing on Planet Radio TV for a month, the South African-based radio and TV network showed interest in him and signed him to be the regular host of the show.
“I need that platform as a DJ because I really wanna explore and do more with my talent” DJ Champagne told Zionfelix.com.
Until his resignation, DJ Champagne was the official DJ for “Dryve Of Ur Lyfe” Show Mon-Friday 3:00pm-7:00pm and “Y-Campus Express” on Sat 2:00pm-5:00pm.
For his hard work for about six years at YFM, the station will be sending him off tonight with a mega party at Samini’s newly-opened Dansterdam.
DJ Champagne follows DJ Blow who also resigned from the station weeks ago.
DJ champagne is a music connoisseur, a DJ, Radio Personality & Record Label Executive and is associated with “Dream Entertainment”. He represented Ghana at the “Big Brother Africa Star Game” Final Party and the Grand Finale in South Africa 2012.
