The 7th Ghana Property Awards (GAPOA) is annual Awards for Ghana Real Estate, Property & Construction Sectors, which seek to strengthen stakeholders as well as recognize, appreciate and award hardworking, excellent and innovative Firms and Personalities in the Real Estate Sector.
This year’s event is on 1st November, at The Banquet Hall State House Accra with the theme “Sustaining Infrastructure funding through private – public equity partnership in meeting Ghana’s service demand”.
Last Friday at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra , nominated companies and organizations had the chance to do some presentation about themselves to the media and the general public.
In an exclusive interview with Mr Robert Wegbe the CEO of Ghana Property Express he said, the awards started in 0ctober 2007 and has grown to become the biggest industry awards scheme and the measuring rod for the success of practitioners and stakeholders in the real estate industry.
The award scheme is in its 7th year, and this year’s event is very unique, unique because we have gathered nominees in the same category to present to the general public and the media what they really have, and what makes them stand out among their peers in the industry.
We will collate information gathered from the general public and the media for short listing. There are (19) nineteen categories and (3) three in each group. We again push the categories to the general public through the media to vote the best.
This gives the media the opportunity to criticize constructively and also share their views and suggestions.
Mr Robert Wegbe went on to say that, winning an award helps to strengthens business, consumers start patronizing your products, it’s also urge companies and organizations to bring out quality standards.
Some of our challenges include finances, and the second one is to do with the developers. It’s sometimes difficult for developers to bring their materials to us on time when we request for them, because it has to go through a lot of protocols.
Yearly, we commission research companies to help us with the research work, then to technical committee and then the judge makes their final decisions.
