The moviemaker you love to hate, Socrate Safo on Tuesday, May 3 celebrated his twenty-eights years as a movie producer. The controversial movie producer who launched his first movie, “Unconditional Love” at the Global Cinema in Accra on 3rd May 1988 in a Facebook post reminisced the fright that gripped him on the day of premiere.
According to him, he broke down in tears when the audience who had come from far and near to watch his first premiere laughed, a sign to show that the movie is good.
” I will never forget the fear that gripped me when I saw the crowd at the gate, the tears that I shed alone as the first laughter bust out from the audience five minutes into the screening. “
The boss of Movie Africa continued that “Today, hundreds are making a living directly out of what I started as a “kid living on the streets of Bukom with a dream “. He further gave thanks to God, wife, family and friends for their support through his 28 years as a moviemaker.
“Thank you god for bringing me this far and a supportive wife, family and friends”
Socrate Safo is a native of Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region of Ghana but he was born in Accra. He attended Amamomo-1 Primary, then to Ayalolo-1 Boys Middle School. He then proceeded to the Mercedes Benz GNTC Technical Institute.
He has been criticized for his sensational movie titles like Hot Fork, Sexy Angel, Love and Sex and Sons of Satan, Adult Only and many others.
