President and Founder of the Legal Advocacy Foundation, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has questioned Ghana Police on why they failed to call Black Stars skipper Asamaoh Gyan for questioning on Castro’s missing saga before leaving the shores of the country.

Speaking on Radio Univers, lawyer Ampaw said Asamoah Gyan and all his friends who went on the trip should be treated as suspects of the case but not as innocent souls. He told Brain Stormer, host of the mid-morning show that Asamoah Gyan and his friends should not be called for interrogation “unless we say that disappearance and missing of a person is not a crime, therefore when somebody disappears, we just go and look for the person but we don’t suspect anybody. Then it’s not a criminal matter so the police will not come in here”

He continued that “but once you go out with a friend and the friend disappears, we are not saying that you are responsible for his disappearance but for criminal investigation purposes, you have to suspect somebody.”

“You call them to write their statement and you let them go. If there is anything and you need their assistance then you call them again but if you don’t treat them as suspects, you presume that they are too innocent therefore you cannot interrogate them.” he noted.

The president and Founder of the Legal Advocacy Foundation revealed that he has been informed that the police did not invite Asamoah Gyan before he left Ghana to Dubai to join his football club, Al Ain.

“Per my information, they (police) did not take a statement from him. Now what the police is trying to tell us is that Asamoah Gyan and all those who went there with Castro are totally innocent. Now the police is telling us that people’s disappearance amount to searching and there is no suspicion of crime”

Comparing the police’s failure to call Asamoah Gyan for questioning to Bull Dog’s arrest about the death of Fennec Okyere, , Lawyer Maurice Ampaw noted that “Bull Dog just sent a message to Fennec, there was no link or whatsoever that Bull Dog caused the death of Fennec but what did the police do, they called the arrest of Bull Dog and treated him as a suspect. It took the intervention of a lawyer to fight for bail”

“Why, is Asamoah Gyan above the law? Are Baffour Gyan, Jone Boye and all those people who went with Castro and Janet above the law? Why apply the law differently? Lawyer Maurice Ampaw asked.

He expressed his disappointment in the police on how they are treating Castro’s disappearance and further added hiplife artiste Akoo Nana to the tall list of personalities who should be called for questioning about Castro’s saga.

Lawyer Ampaw advised the public to insulting him and seek legal advice on cases such as this.

“Those who are insulting me on social media networks, I want to let them know that they are the people we are fighting for. If what they can do is to insult people when issues of this nature come up, then they are not contributing to national development, they are rather a liability to the nation. When somebody comes up with his legal opinion and you have nothing to share, keep quiet or seek a legal opinion as well.”

Armed with $100,000 World Cup appearance fees, Ghana’s goalie Fatau Dauda has revealed he put the money to good use by buying a house

“I know people will say we got $100,000. I came home [from Brazil] on a Sunday [June 29th] and rested until Wednesday [July 2nd] when I went to buy a house so that I know that I used the money that I got for something reasonable,” South African-based goalkeeper Fatau Dauda told Metro TV’s Sport File program.

The 29-year-old formed part of a 23-man squad who demanded the payment of $100,000 before playing Ghana’s last game against Portugal. The now infamous demand and threat to boycott the game, forced government to airlift $3 million to Brazil to restore calm in the camp.

Ghanaians have expressed disappointment with the conduct of the players and questioned the commitment of the players who left the tournament without winning a single match – a new record.

“Because I couldn’t win [a single game at the World Cup to get a winning bonus], I went there [Barclays Legon Branch] to withdraw money and not to deposit money,” Dauda narrated.

The location of the property remains unknown but what is known is that the Orlando Pirates player has witnessed an improved standard of living since his move to South Africa and his call-up to the Black Stars.

Your relationship may be amazing, but there will always be arguments over the annoying things boyfriends do. Some of these annoying things, you just have to forgive. If you can’t look past the small things, you won’t be able to appreciate the big things. Besides, I’m sure we all do things that are equally annoying, right? Leave their company for a while, lose your temper a little bit but, at the end of the day, you’ll have to forgive this sort of thing if you want your relationship to be a pleasant state to be in. These are the little, annoying things boyfriends do that, in the grand scheme of things, don’t matter so much (even if they drive you crazy).

1. Pants Everywhere
This is at the top of my list of the annoying things boyfriends do and I have to bite my tongue a lot. It’s probably more to do with me – I’m a bit OCD when it comes to cleanliness and tidiness. It’s like there is a mess but he can’t see it. He thinks it’s clean and so nothing needs doing. Ergo, he doesn’t want to do it. BUT IT IS NOT CLEAN. Still, this isn’t worth a massive argument and if you talk about it nicely, it’ll probably get cleaned in the end anyway.

2. ‘You Look Fine’
Are there any words in the English language more infuriating than ‘you look fine’? You know, when you’ve bought a new dress and you want someone to tell you it looks nice, but you get a quick glance and a ‘fine.’ It’s not meant in that way though – I’ve just found that most men aren’t that bothered about the clothes you’re wearing and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Still annoying, though.

3. Friends First
Sometimes, it can seem like he’s putting his friends before you – like barely stopping to say hello before he’s out the door and heading to the pub, or too focused on football to ask how you are. As long as this isn’t all the time, it’s ok. I’m the same when I’m shoe-shopping, or when I’m meeting my girlfriends for dinner. Sometimes, you won’t always be the centre of his attention.

4. Thoughtlessness
I don’t know if this is a sweeping generalisation or not, and I know that there are certainly exceptions (I’ve found an exception now). Sometimes, though, men can suck a little bit at doing the small things, like taking your rubbish out for you so you don’t have to do it, or bringing you soup when you’re sick. Just remember that it’s most probably not intentional and they would like to do those things. If they remembered. It can get you down if they never do it, though.

5. No Enthusiasm
This can drive me crazy. Sometimes, you’ll come home and be really excited about something, an excitement you want to share with your boyfriend. But he just doesn’t get it. He’s over the moon if his football team wins, but not that bothered if you’ve FINALLY got a reservation or tickets at the place HE really wanted to go to.

6. Selective Hearing
Women tend to get the old selective hearing argument thrown at them, but I think men are the main culprits. Oh, so you didn’t hear me telling you about my new dress? That’s strange, because you heard me ask you if you wanted a cup of tea.

7. Big Babies
Sometimes, men are massive, massive babies. They whine, they moan and they struggle to look after themselves when they’re ill. They need either you, or – even worse – their mum to look after them. Sometimes, it can be nice to look after someone. Sometimes, this can be very, very annoying. But, then again, nothing beats having someone to give you a cuddle and make you soup when you’re ill – it’s all worth it in the end!

Obviously, this is all very subjective to me. I’m not saying that all men do all of these things! And even if they do, it’s worth it if they’re wonderful in all the other ways. Besides, I could make a pretty long list of annoying things that I do. What does your boyfriend do (or forget to do) that drives you crazy?

It has been four years since any Ghanaian comedian had mounted the stage at the biggest comedy show in the country to try a stand up show.

The MTN sponsored and Charterhouse organized 1000 series laughs and music bi-annual show is without a doubt the biggest and it is on that stage that we have not had any of our own trying to crack our ribs for such a long time.

Considering that two of these shows are held in a year, there must have been about eight of such shows since the last Ghanaian comedian showed up to perform and since then we have had none showing up to rub shoulders with the kings of comedy.

It has most often been a combination of the big names and emerging names of Nigerian comedy including the likes of Gordons, Basket Mouth, Klint the Drunk, Bash, Okey Bakassi, Akpororo, Helen Paul just to name a few.

Even more painful to take is the fact that there have even been Congolese and Ugandan comedians respectively showing up on one particular night during our very long fallow period on the biggest comedy stage! The last time a Ghanaian comedian was on that stage it was Funny Face. He was such an amazing performer that nightand it could be argued that it was that which set him up to the heights of comedy he found himself afterwards.

As to be expected, the local comedians have criticized the organizers Charterhouse for not giving them the opportunity and have similarly flayed entertainment pundits for writing them off and thereby creating the impression among the public, though erroneous in their view, that there were no good comedians in Ghana.

Not just to prove that there still were very good comedians in the country, but also to make a living out of their trade some very prominent ones like David Oscar, Foster, DKB et all have been organizing their own comedy shows across the country. For instance DKB, the former Big Brother Africa housemate and ahem…has been organizing his own comedy shows in some of the tertiary institutions to make the students laugh and also perhaps to sell his trade to them.

It did not come as a surprise to therefore when we started seeing the communication material for the next in the series of the 1000 laughs and music that DKB was on the list of the comedians selected to perform on the night. Some have argued that sans Funny Face, in the past when some local comedians had been given the opportunity they could not live up to the expectations and that’s perhaps the reason Charterhouse’s producers have not been too cozy with the idea.

DKB will come up against four other comedians who know their business very much and therefore a lot would be expected of him on the night. His jokes must be top notch to get the audience laughing throughout his performance. Not only is it very necessary for DKB to make a name for himself on the night, but he would have to bear the cross for the entire industry, most importantly. This is because how he performs on the night will in no small way open the door or completely shut it the face of both he and his colleague comedians to such big comedy gigs.

Just like the Hobbit Frodo Baggins in the “Lord of the Rings” who carried the fate of the whole Middle Earth on his tiny shoulders as he proceeded on the dangerous journey to Mordor to destroy the ring and thereby bring Sauron’s power to an end, DKB carries the fate of local comedy. For the sake of his colleagues and local comedy he cannot flunk this opportunity!

Indeed DKB can argue that he had performed at the MNet organized Comedy Club and excelled and so what is the big deal about a local comedy show dubbed A Nite of 1018 Laughs & Music? However, it is an open secret that it is the stage on which every Ghanaian comedian worth his sort would love to mount, hence the importance that he excels!

Also mounting the stage on the night are Bovi, Okey Bakassi, Funny Bone and Dan D’Humorous. Maybe apart from Dan D’Humorous all the others are familiar to Ghanaians who attend such shows and can therefore verify that they know their comedy. On the music side the organisers have chosen a mix of old age and youth.

Highlife stalwart Nana Tuffour will come on stage to perform some of his well-known highlife tunes, Akoaboah will continue his new found mojo that draws audience to his performances and Noella Wiyalaa the Vodafone Icons winner and ever growing female artiste will bring his game to the show.

Come August 2, 2014 the Accra International Conference Centre will be the venue where those who love to laugh and can afford the GHC70 and GHC150 price tag for tickets respectivelty will congregate from 8pm for the MTN sponsored A Nite of 1018 Laughs & Music. They will look forward to having DKB and the quartet of Nigerian comedians crack their ribs while the trio of Ghanaian musicians thrills them to a night of good comedy and music.

Popular Ghanaian actress Yvonne Okoro has thrown verbal punches into the air which some stakeholders believe are directed at Inna Patty, Chief Executive Officer of Exclusive Events over current negative vibes surrounding the Miss Ghana pageant.

The ‘Contract’ actress seemed to have bounced following recent developments over the Miss Ghana pageant.

She tweeted on Tuesday July 22 at her sister Roseline, saying, “God will surely fight your battles for you. Finally, everything I knew is coming out. Exploitation at its best #standup4urright @Roseline_Okoro.”

Even though she did not mention anybody’s name, indications were that she was referring to Inna over the current issues that have engulfed the Miss Ghana pageant.

Yvonne and Inna have not been friends since 2012 after their brawl over the 2012 Miss Ghana pageant.

After that event, Yvonne, whose sister Roseline Okoro competed in the pageant, tweeted, “Thanks to everyone who supported my sister, ever grateful, I had a dream of a better Ghana free from sexual bias and vote rigging..Maybe one day..kisses.”

Her tweet was interpreted as accusing the organisers of rigging the competition for the eventual winner.

Inna in her reply described Yvonne as “Ignorant,” when she said, “It shows that she is completely ignorant and does not know the definition of cheating. Ghanaians picked up the phone and voted and who voted? Rosaline Okoro [won the popular vote], do you call that rigging?”

Yvonne is yet to reply Inna.

Ghana at the moment does not have a representative for the Miss World competition as Miss Ghana 2013, Nana Akua Baafi and her two runners-up have resigned from their positions.

Reports say Miss Baafi is threatening to drag Exclusive Events to court over an official statement released by the company to the public, stripping her off her crown and other privileges.

Two controversial home-made sex videos, which went viral on social this week, have been blocked from being shared on Whatsapp in Ghana alone, Adom News can confirm.

One of the videos allegedly involved the children of two public personalities. The girl involved is said to be 15 years old.

The videos have been making the rounds the whole week on several social media platforms, including Whatsapp. But throughout Friday, it has been impossible to share the video on Whatsapp alone.

Some phone users suspect the local telcos deliberately blocked the videos based on “orders from above”.

Indeed, Adom News’ attention was brought to the matter because an insider at one of the leading telcos in the country called a journalist and said “we have been instructed to block that sex video” involving the children of the public personalities.

When Adom Newsroom staff tried to share the video on Whatsapp across all the five GSM networks in Ghana it failed to be shared.

But on reaching the spokespersons of the telcos on phone, they all denied blocking the video on Whatsapp, saying “it is not possible for us to block the sharing of content on Whatsapp.”

One explained that it was possible someone with vested interest reported the sharing of that particular video directly to the owners of Whatsapp, and they blocked it from their base outside Ghana.

“It could be because the video involves a minor, someone reported it to Whatsapp and they stopped it,” another telco official said.

But Ghanaians living abroad, who have those sex videos on their phones, told Adom News they are able to share the video among themselves on Whatsapp in the UK, USA and other parts of the world.

An IT expert also told Adom News he suspects the local telcos may have changed some codes in the properties of the video making it impossible to share on social media.

He insisted that the blocking of the video could not have been done by Whatsapp since a transfer on Whatsapp is possible in other countries except Ghana.

“We are still trying various ways of sending the video via Whatsapp – we will let you know what we find,” he said.

Some staff of the telcos also said they tried various ways of resaving and sending that video on Whatsapp but it did not work.

Meanwhile, a customer service official at one of the telcos said she suspects one of the public officials, whose son is allegedly involved in one of the sex videos may have pulled the strings to block the video.

“I am sure the Minister in question may have used his/her power to block the video – this is Ghana and that Minister only needs to make a call for this thing to be blocked – so please just manage with what you have and stop spreading the video,” she said.

Adom News also reached telecoms regulator National Communications Authority (NCA) and they said telcos do not have control over content but the law allows them to prevent the spread of any content deemed harmful to a minor, provided someone makes a complaint.

The NCA is still not sure whether anyone made a complaint to the telcos, or the telcos indeed blocked the video. But they said the law empowers the telcos to protect certain groups of persons when it becomes necessary.

Adom News has sent email to Whatsapp still in pursuit of answers to why those videos are blocked in Ghana alone, but could be shared on Whatsapp anywhere else.

Shatta Wale in USA has sparked many controversies on how he is taking pictures wherever he gets to. Zionfelix.com earlier published hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese calling the dancehall artiste a tourist since he has been sharing countless pictures of himself on social media networks, especially Facebook.

Legendary beatmaker, Hammer of the last two says he sees nothing wrong with an artiste taking photos from an eventful places during his stay in the country. In a facebook post, Edward Nana Poku Osei wrote

Chale what’s wrong with an artiste site seeing in the US and documenting to share with his fans? Why can’t u see the positive part if this? How many artistes can be this real and raw. I recently had a short recess in the uk and suffered a similar fate in my inbox when worried observers asked me to stop sharing photos cos It looked bad for my image as a pioneer in our industry… Really? Wow. Muthaf**#** I’ve being doing the uk and US since I was eleven in 1987 to date so if documenting my site seeing in 2014 bothers u maybe u need to also complain abt obamas wife and kids when they were taking selfies with landmarks and indigenes in cape.

The third edition of the MTN Hit-Maker music talent hunt was launched at the MTN Head Office, Ridge Towers in Accra. It was a short but impressive and colourful ceremony.

The season three saw some changes from the previous two editions as EFGH TV show host, Peace Regina Hyde will now co-host the show with Bola Ray and also sound engineer, Edward Poku, Hammer takes over the wheels of the technicalities aspect from Zapp Mallet and ahead of the
official commencement of the Season 3, newly established Starr 103.5fm has partnered telecommunications giant, MTN as the official media house. The station will be responsible for carrying live feeds of the show via radio.

This is what Peace Hyde said after the launch ”I had an amazing time co-hosting MTN hitmaker season 3 with super talented Bola Ray, I’m so happy to be part of MTN Hitmaker family, God is good”.

The programme was initiated in 2012 as a platform to help emerging talents get exposure, learn from experienced industry professionals and also record their own material. The first contest was won by Naterial with Miriam as the runner-up. Both artistes have since put out their debut albums and also performed at various shows across the country. Koo Ntakara was winner of the second edition. He recently put out two singles: Go Harder and Tititantor.

Season Three is just a few weeks away from its official launch so people with potential ‘hitmaker’ demos should get themselves ready for another entertaining edition.

The highly anticipated African Muzik Magazine Awards, AFRIMMA  was held last night in Dallasand it had Ghana’s Sarkodie, Fuse ODG, DJ Black sharing the joys of winning awards along with some of Africa’s biggest stars including Davido, Tiwa Savage, Mafikizolo and others.  Flavour, Kcee, Iyanya, Diamond Platnumz and international star T-pain also  dazzled on the stage with electrifying performances.
