Explaining what Ropopo means, Clement disclosed Ropopo meant ‘You are my everything’, a new langue argotique coined by himself.

With a unique voice that won the hearts of many all over the world including Michael Bolton, renowned voice coach and songwriter Bibie Brew describes Clement as a “Soul Singer”.

Dancehall artiste, Vybrant Faya will be celebrating this year’s Valentine’s Day which happens this Saturday with a lucky female fan. The artiste behind “Mampi” hit song in appreciation of how Ghanaians have accepted him starts a competition from now to choose a female fan for the contest.

Vybrant Faya giving details of the competition in a video asked his female fans to record a video of themselves singing any line of his song and post it on Facebook with the hashtag #VybrantFayaSMF. He will hangout with the lucky winner at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra on Saturday.

He added that, the winner for the video competition will also be given a Valentine’s Day hamper to take home. Ghanaian female musician, Mzbel together with her management team put up a concert on Saturday, 7 February 2015 at the National Theater in Accra to celebrate the 10 years anniversary of the musician in Ghanaian showbiz industry.

Artistes who performed on the night of the event aside Mzbel were, Edem, Mzvee, Trigmatic, Paulina Oduro, Dobble, Quame Zaggy, Abena Ruthy and others. Comedians DKB and Afia Schwarzenegger also came on stage to entertain the audience.

Other known faces seen at the venue of the event were Bice Osei Kuffour aka Obour, Choirmaster formerly of Praye group and wife Beverly Afaglo, Vicky Zugah and others.

Golden Movie Awards, Africa was launched on Wednesday, 11 February 2015 at UNAIDS in Accra. The event initiated by NMJ Ghana is to set a credible continental Standard of Excellence by which the best actors in the movie industry of Africa may attain international acclaim through national recognition. The Golden Movie Awards-Africa is intended to be a multifaceted cross-cultural bestowment system indeed, creating conditions under which, the actors in the Africa movie industry may develop a sense of self-assured creativity by measuring their works against the exacting demands of international standards.

Esther Quayson, Communication Director for the awards said “Golden Movie Awards-Africa is therefore a gate of opportunity, signifying change as well as renewal. It is a symbol of Africa assuming its continental cultural leadership role by bringing the world to Africa and Africa to the world. This is a victory of culture to which actors in the movie industry are cordially invited.” She added that qualified movies should have been released between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2014.

Gospel musician, Christiana Love now known as Obaapa Christy has stated that singing secular music is not bad as people have described it. The popular musician in an interview on Atinka FM in Accra did a rendition of Daddy Lumba’s chart-topping song, ‘Yentie Obiaa’ live on air.

When people started questioning why a gospel artiste was singing a secular song, she told host of the show that there was nothing wrong with a gospel musician singing secular music.

“Many of these so-called secular musicians offer inspiration and direction to people; some even offer fruitful advice to the depressed in society,”

“I sometimes take inspiration from them; I enjoy Samini’s music as well as his energetic stage performances,”

“If you want to improve your music career, you should be selective; you must learn from difference artistes particularly, their stage performances and the quality they add to the various compositions,”

She added that she admires secular artistes like Samini, Kwaw Kese, Kwabena Kwabena, Daddy Lumba, Sarkodie amongst others simply because of dedication and commitment to their work.

Gospel musician Ohemaa on Tuesday, 10 February 2015 welcomed her third son. The gospel musician gave birth at Medifem Hospital and Fertility Centre in Accra.

Husband and manager of the musician, Isaac Twum Ampofo in an interview with peacefmonline.com said

“We thank God for successfully bringing us the beautiful baby boy, we thank all who prayed for us and those who have being calling since Tuesday to congratulate us and we thank doctors, nurses and staff of Medifem Hospital and Fertility Centre”.  

He revealed the name of the boy as Kwabena Aseda Twum Ampofo. Kwabena Aseda Twum Ampofo is the third after Kofi Nyamekye Twum Ampofo -12 and 8 years old Kofi Nhyira Twum Ampofo.

Ghana’s independent day celebrations will for the first time be climaxed in the Garden City of the Ashanti Region, Kumasi with the biggest ever musical concert dubbed Freedom Concert 2015.

The event which takes off at the Baba Yara Sports stadium at 7pm on 6th March will see a list of celebrated Ghanaian performers who will rock the people of Kumasi and its environs to great and quality entertainment.

Ghanaian actress and movie producer Lydia Forson says she is not controversial as people have tagged her. The actress  in an interview on Personality Profile on Drive Time on Joy FM Thursday night said it surprises her when she hear people say she is outspoken and controversial.

“I don’t attack anything little as people say. When there is anything out there, I’m going to say my piece of mind. I don’t know whether I’m a feminist or not.

“I don’t actually like the word feminism because I don’t believe in this right for women thing but right for humans. Maybe people will call me that but I have never stood anywhere to call myself a feminist”

She denied it when Lexis Bil, host of the show said “as a celebrity you need to come up with something controversial to keep your name in the game”. She stated that she will go naked when she wants to sound controversial but not the usual things.

Ghanaians are the most romantic long-distance lovers, a report by a money transfer service WorldRemit revealed.

Based on a global data from 2014, the money transfer firm said Ghanaians abroad sent more money to their loved ones back home than any others, especially on Valentine’s Day.

“Romantics sending money to loved ones abroad tend to send £35 – £60 extra on average on Valentine’s Day.

“Ghanaians are the most romantic long distance lovers, each sending an average around £63 more on Valentine’s Day than on any other day of the month.

“Ghanaians were closely followed by Bangladeshis and Zimbabweans who spent an average of £54 and £52,” the WorldRemit report said.

According to the report, more women send money than men “on Valentine’s Day to countries such as Jamaica, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.”

WorldRemit’s service is available to senders in 50 countries. It offers transfers to more than 110 destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas.

BarCo Studios latest movie, ‘IF YOU WERE MINE’, sets to premiere on the 21st of February, 2015 at the National Theatre, Accra, Ghana by 7pm sharp.

The movie is said to be a page-turner and fans can be assured of mind blowing moments from start to finish. From the trailer which was released last week, it tells a story of Max who meets a mysterious lady in a nightclub, before he could blink, this lady is in his house and on his bed.

As the story unfolds, Ashanti the lady in the centre of it all has stolen every fibre of space in his heart. Things move so fast that by the time he realizes, he’s already proposed.

Becoming more interesting, the dilemma begins with the realization that this lady could she be playing games and before he can find answers, a brawl ensues with an ex-lover of his mysterious lady, waking him up to the reality of a wife and son he is trying to accept.

Nollywood bad boy, Hanks Anuku  has revealed that he knowingly infected his wife of many years with the deadly disease, HIV/AIDS. The actor in an interview stated that he  acquired the disease when he traveled to Zambia in April 2011 where he took part in various plays on teaching about HIV and AIDS without his wife and two kids for six month.

He revealed that he slept with about 80 women during his stay in the country which made him obtain the deadly disease.

“I got tested while I was in Zambia after one of my girlfriends advised me about her pregnancy. She had gone for pregnancy tests and during that time she was tested for HIV and the results was shocking, she was positive. She forced me to get tested but I could not come to terms with the results. After I got tested I came back to Zimbabwe and I kept quiet about the issue. I never told my wife about the issue. I infected her but I regret. I later on received some counseling and it well well,”

“During my peak of popularity I had sex with approximately 80 women, within Harare and Zambia. In 2002 it was so amazing to be on TV. I abused the fame. To make matters worse I lacked counseling and I failed to handle it properly, leaving me in this mud. I am now a born again Christian with UFIC under the guidance of Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.”

Rapper Tinny has lost his father, Mr. Ricky Tetteh Quaynor . The ‘Makola Kwakwe’ hitmaker few minutes after his father’s death confirmed the news stating that he died of cancer.

He added that his father has been his producer since day one of his career and will miss him. Tinny talking to ghbase.com said the late before his death had been battling cancer for a long.

He died of cancer. He has been battling with it for some time now until just 5 minutes ago – he left the body into eternity. “He died at the Labadi Polyclinic. He is the one who has executively produced me right from Makola Kwake till date. He has been my backbone all these years. It’s sad but the lord knows best. I shall fill you in later.

Everything about this is messy. Arguably, the worst musical concert ever  organised at the Accra International Conference Center for the past many years happened on this year’s Val’s Day night when Abba Investment held the the second edition of their F14 concert. The organisers of the event which had artistes like Amakye Dede, R2bees, Nana Quame, DKB, Kaceey More, Jacinta, Abenkwaen on the bill asked audience who attended the event to go home without the performances of Amakye Dede and R2bees. The first edition of the show, organised last year which had Kwabena Kwabena as the headline act was successfully held but this year’s was nothing to write home about.

Let me steal your time and tell you what really happened at the Accra International Conference when Abba Investment ruined people’s Val’s Night including the Rock of Gibraltar, John Mensah who was at the event with his newly wedded wife. I got to the venue around 8:30 pm only to see the security men at the entrance with nobody buying tickets or checking in. On my way to the venue, I was pre-informed that the show had started so I thought I was late only to enter and get the shock of my life since I started covering events at the Accra International Conference Center. The venue of the event had just few people who were parked in front of the stage clearly showing all the empty seats behind. Few of the patrons who could not wait any longer due to late start of the show started leaving the venue around 10 pm decreasing the number of people at the venue.

The organisers of the show did a great work when they realised people had started leaving. They made the instrumentalists entertain the audience for close to an hour before DKB who was on bill as a comedian (I stand to be corrected) came on stage to also double as the MC.

Before DKB came on stage, the number had increased but it was still not encouraging for such a concert. Fast forward to the performances, the show started with an underground artiste coming to disgrace himself, after him was BBA 9 rep, Kaceey More who entertained the crowd with his poetry and music group Galaxy came in with their boring performance.

Comedienne Jacinta and Abenkwan also followed with their jokes which got the audience laughing.

All this while, DKB who was the host of the show had been telling the audience about the presence of Amakye Dede, R2bees and Nana Quame at the venue. Hopes of the patrons at the venue grew higher when DKB on two occasions informed them that “For the first time, R2bees will be performing with a live band”.

Then came “John the Baptist” Nana Quame who came to prepare the crowd with his melodious voice as they waited for R2bees and Amakye Dede. The disappointment started when Nana Quame finished his performance. For close to 15 minutes, there was nobody on stage to perform or communicate anything to the audience. DKB later came on stage trying to find an excuse which was well accepted but that wasn’t what the few people gathered wanted to hear, “Who Is The Next act?”

DKB after his long talks left the stage without mentioning any artiste’s name which put the audience in suspense, guessing who the next act would be. After five or so minutes, DKB came back to give the bitter news lovers obviously did not want to hear on a Val’s Day night. The long and short of whatever DKB said was, Amakye Dede and R2bees cannot perform, blaming ECG for their absence. According to DKB, the power at the  venue could no longer support their machines to continue the event. Before then, he had asked the patrons not to throwaway  their tickets for a surprise so I guess that was the surprise.

As if that was a joke, he further apologised to the audience and asked them to leave but return for another concert to be held on a later date for the two artistes who did not perform on the night. Disappointed  as the audience were, they left one after the other thinking they will be called back but that never happened.

I’ve tried to cut a long story short but that is how bad the event was. Organisers failed to give reasons for the absence of the legend Amakye Dede and R2bees when the were approached saying that they will make it known through the press by Monday.
